Fat Unhealthy (vegetarian diet) People

In America, we have a big problem obesity. You cant deny it, each year our population is getting bigger. wherever you go, you are likely to see far more people who are overweight than those with a normal, healthy weight. All ages are affected by the obesity epidemic, from the very young to the elderly. Obviously, America has a predicament on its hands.

The health problems in the United States are getting worse. The statistics are astonishing. Since the mid 1970s, the obesity rate rose from 15% to over 32% by 2004. The rate of childhood obesity rose from only 5% to 18%. The population is getting more and more obese at a startling rate, causing grave health problems.

Having worked for two decades in the healthcare industry, I have observed that there are many adaptations which have had to be made in order to accommodate the larger sized population; order:, :4:extra large wheelchairs and cranes for moving patients are just a few that pop into mind.

Diagnostic imaging tables all have weight and size limitations. It is really a shame that big people are being cheated out of quality healthcare because of their size.

There are now numerous surgeries which people can undergo as a last resort to help them drop. Gastroplasty and stomach stapling are very extreme, desperate measures for obese patients who need to lose weight but have failed all other attempts. These procedures were unheard of twenty years ago, and now, despite the risks, are widespread.

There are numerous diseases which are directly linked to being fat. Cardiovascular disease is at the top of the list, which is also the number one killer of Americans today.
The other diseases linked to obesity include order:, :9:Type 2 diabetes and Sleep Apnea.

The economic impact of this crisis is overwhelming. Medical costs due to obesity reach way into the billions. With about one fifth of these costs going to Medicare and Medicaid, this places an enormous financial burden on us all. If the obesity rates continue to climb at the same rates, and the medical care costs keep climbing as well, how much longer will it be before our government can no longer foot the bill? When this happens, we will all lose out on the Medicare we have been counting on to take care of us in our old age.

With obesity on the rise, what can be done to turn this all around? There are a number of fad diets and diet pills, but do any of them really work? If they actually did, would there still be such a large population of overweight individuals? Is there a core problem causing these overweight individuals to continue to gain even more weight?

If you are carrying around extra weight yourself, you need to know this!

What are the real reasons for weight gain and bloating? Obviously, when you take in more calories than your body needs for metabolism, you will store fat. When all that food stays inside you too long, you will have bloating and weight gain. But, there is more to it than just eating too much. Its whats in the food that is wreaking havoc with your health.

Much of the food we consume is so over processed and artificial that it does us more harm than good. Look at the list of ingredients on a box of cookies. Ill bet you cant pronounce at least a few of the words. The additives and preservatives were putting into our bodies originated in a laboratory, not from nature. Consuming un-natural foods or even natural foods that are improperly handled can cause serious health risks.

When we keep ingesting toxins, they build up inside of our intestines where they become a breeding ground for trouble. Improperly washed and handled food can have bad bacteria and parasites. They can set up house inside of you and clause an abundance. Get rid of these nasty critters and reap the benefits of having a slimmer and healthier body.

You dont have to let the vicious cycle of obesity continue. There is hope. Stop being fat and lose the fat forever. You can be slim again and have your health restored. For complete details, visit the link below.

Kids And Obesity
By Jackie Serta

Obesity and overweight are the second most major reasons of preventable deaths in America. Stagnant lifestyle and junk food is to be blamed for more than three hundred thousand deaths per annum. The sad thing is that this problem is on the rise. Obesity is a chronic disease which poses serious health risk to the health of an individual. Also, obesity is the easiest recognizable medical problem, but is very difficult to deal with.

People usually confuse obesity with overweight. Overweight is gaining of a few extra pounds. A person is considered obese when the total body weight is minimum ten percent more than the recommended weight for his/her body structure and height. According to an estimate every year hundred billion dollars are spent on the obesity problem. It is very important to treat the problem as early as possible. Obese children between the age of ten and thirteen have eighty percent chances of growing into obese adults, unless they change their ways and adopt a healthier lifestyle. The obesity problem starts from the age of five and continue till adolescence.

Obesity can be caused due to complex reasons including biological, genetic, cultural and behavioral factors. Usually a person gets obese when he/she consumes more calories than the body burns. Also there are fifty percent chances of becoming obese when both one of the parent is obese and when obesity has affected both the parents, the chances increases to eighty percent. One percent of obese people can have that fat because of health reasons, as obesity can be caused due to few medical disorders. The causes of obesity in adolescence are overeating, family history, bad eating habits, little or no exercise, medical illness, low self esteem, medications, depression, emotional problems, stressful life, and family problem.

Obesity can cause many major problems. Some of them are diabetes, sleeping disorders, high blood pressure, breathing problems, emotional problems and increase in heart disease risk. Teenagers are more prone to get emotional problems. Because of the weight, they develop low self esteem. They get into depression, obsessive compulsion disorder and anxiety.

Adolescents who want to tackle the obesity problem should approach a pediatrician who will thoroughly evaluate the cause. If no physical disorder is to be blamed, the weight is reduced by limiting the calorie intake and increasing physical activity. The doctor can advice a weight management program and change the eating habits of the teenager, slowly. The patient must avoid oily, fatty, fast and junk food. The potions must be reduced in order to decrease the calorie intake. If the adolescent has developed emotional problems because of obesity, an adolescent psychiatrist can collaborate with the pediatrician in order to make a comprehensive plan for treatment. The plan includes reasonable goals, behavior modification, family participation, and management of physical activity.

Self motivation is extremely necessary in loosing weight. Because obesity is more a family problem and not an individual problem, the whole family can switch to eating healthy food and exercising regularly. This can make the weight control program a success. Parents can play a major role by boosting the self esteem of their children by concentrating on their strengths and encouraging them, instead of targeting the weight problem. The whole family should eat meals together, instead of eating individually while watching a movie. This helps all the members to focus on the food and the quantity being eaten. If the teenager isn’t getting support from his family members, he/she can join support groups which can help towards the goals.

After the adolescent has lost weight, it is very important that he/she maintains it. In majority of the cases, people shift back to their old eating habits after loosing weight. That is the reason why obesity is more of a lifetime issue. So the main aim of any weight loss program must be make the adolescent like healthy food. He/she must also be made to exercise regularly, irrespective of the weight.

Poor Dental Health Increases Risk of Cancer
By Sheila Guilloton

Oral cancer strikes an estimated 35,000 Americans each year. In 2007, 25% of those diagnosed with the disease, died. In fact, more people die from oral cancers then either melanomas or cervical cancer.

The use of tobacco and excessive alcohol is directly linked to developing oral cancers. However, almost 25% of patients diagnosed with oral cancel did not use either tobacco or alcohol.

Another alarming statistic has been reported by the ADA (American Dental Association). African Americans are particularly at risk for oral cancers. African Americans have an incident rate 1/3rd higher than Caucasians. More frightening, after contracting the disease, African Americans are twice as likely to die from the cancer.

What is the best way to guard against developing oral cancer. Experts agree that getting in the habit of regular dental check-ups is the best defense. Certainly not smoking and using alcohol in moderation are important but just as with other screenings for cancers, early detection is critical.

Oral screenings are a routine part of a regular dental check-up. A dentist can find a flat, painless white or red spot which may be suspicious yet completely unnoticed by the patient. Testing of the suspicious cells can be done quickly and if they turn out to be cancerous or even pre-cancerous, the cells can be surgically removed. Done early enough, this procedure has a very high probability that the patient will not develop oral cancel.

PAP smears, which have been commonly used since 1955 and colonoscopies, which are quickly becoming part of normal preventative screenings, detect early signs of cancer. Both cervical cancer and colon cancer have falling incident and mortality rates because of early detection procedures.

The same type of care should be taken to detect and prevent oral cancer. Do not put your health at risk because of a mistaken belief that seeing a dentist regularly is not that important.

40% of Americans fail to see a dentist regularly. Why? Some think they can not afford to take proper care of their mouth because they do not have dental insurance. True dental insurance, especially for individuals is expensive, but dental plans have become increasing popular. These are very inexpensive, non insurance plans. They offer a fee for service at a discount. The services provided by the participating dentist will be listed in the plan summary and both the regular price and the discount price will be shown. Joining one of these plans is easy and inexpensive and could literally save your life.

Compare all your options and pick a plan that will fit your life style and your pocket book.

Whatever you choose, traditional insurance or dental plan, use the plan regularly. Do not put your life at risk by ignoring the importance of dental check-ups.
